Natural Resources Wales: Water abstractions returns system

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) needed a system to replace the functions previously carried out by the Environment Agency's National Abstraction and Licensing Database, which would allow them to track and charge organisations holding licenses to extract water.

We built a system that integrates with NRW's existing Microsoft Dynamic CRM system to pick up licence holders, who are required to record their water abstractions, and request this data from them. We also built SQL Server Reporting Services to produce management reports and a bespoke billing API, which uses the information gathered to tell NRW's billing team how much to charge each organisation.
