Change management enables strategic assessment of risks which helps executives manage changes better

In today's dynamic IT environment, change is inevitable, and organizations should be equipped well to deal with it. Determining the extent of risk associated with change is a challenge, and it plays critical role in decision-making. ServiceNow's Change Management provides solution for the same by enabling easy and accurate risk assessment. Through user questionnaires and data-driven assessments, the module provides strategic method to evaluate risk associated with change. In the latter model, change risk is calculated by top-level CMDB data through Configuration Items (CIs). The questionnaire-driven model captures inputs from end users for a cluster of quantitative questions and uses it to calculate change risk. Change Management combines results thus obtained and calculates overall change risk, which helps decision-makers to take better-informed decisions.

ServiceNow's Change Advisory Board (CAB) workbench simplifies and automates monotonous elements of CAB meeting

Reviewing recently implemented changes and authorizing any pending change requests form the core agenda of any CAB meeting. Hence, often there are many monotonous tasks involved in organizing CAB meetings such as planning and scheduling of meetings, inviting attendees and so on. ServiceNow Change Management's CAB workbench simplifies and automates above-mentioned aspects of CAB meetings, thus reducing efforts of change managers. The workbench helps in managing not only the schedule of such meetings, but also the meeting agenda and meeting attendees. The change managers can also view change calendars, and approve/reject change requests. Recording, viewing, and sharing meeting notes from a particular CAB meeting are also possible, which boosts collaboration through real-time visual reminders.

Standard Change Catalog pre-approves frequently executed low-risk changes and enhances change management efficiency

Not all changes that organizational change management deals with pose high risks. Often, there are also many frequently requested, but low-risk changes waiting for approval to proceed. When done repeatedly, this process consumes significant time of requesters, approvers, as well as CAB. ServiceNow Change Management's Standard Change Catalog addresses this issue and enables pre-approval of such low-risk changes, and initiates them from Service Catalog. The standard change catalog functions as a repository, and stores all changes that are approved by the application as "standard changes". The catalog also enables managers to review/request standard change templates, raise a request for pre-approved standard changes, and control access to user-level standard change templates.
