Aspire and Aid India to aid creative learning for underprivileged childrenAspire and Aid India to aid creative learning for underprivileged children New Delhi, February 20, 2008: Aspire Systems, India’s leading outsourced product development company, today announced its plan to start a creative learning programme for the school children of Chennai in partnership with Aid India, a Chennai based NGO. This programme will run in 20 Panchayat Union Primary Schools (PUPS) and Panchayat Union Middle Schools (PUMS) in and around Siruseri at Chennai for one full academic year (from March 2008 to December 2008). This creative learning programme would include ‘Reading and Science’ lessons through activities/experiments to the school children of PUPS and PUMS. The aim of this programme is to build reading habits among the children and to make their learning/education full of scientific temperament. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Gowri Shankar Subramanian, CEO, Aspire Systems said, “Aspire Systems is aware of its social responsibility and would be more than happy to contribute the best for the community living in and around us.” He added, “In order to have a better tomorrow it is imperative for us to support these underprivileged children. The ‘Reading and Science’ creative learning programme is designed to buoyant the creativity of the children having tremendous potential to behold the future of the nation." Mr. Balaji Sampath, Secretary, Aid-India, said, “Tamil Nadu has an excellent school system but in certain rural pockets and child labour intensive areas, there is a very serious problem of learning quality. Aid-India in partnership with Aspire Systems, through this creative learning programme, aims to ensure that every child is learning in a well organized and meaningful manner.” About the Programme: Aspire System in tie-up with Aid India is going to launch a reading programme called - ‘Padippum Inikkum’ (Education is sweet) and Science programme called – ‘Ariviyal Anandham’ (Science is fun). These two programs will be run by the AID INDIA team along with Aspirians from Aspire’s CSR wing, Polestar. 55 Polestars would split themselves into groups and each group would adopt a school from the identified 20 schools. The Polestars would assist the Aid India volunteers during this program. The team would train teachers and provide them with the required materials and kits to conduct the classes and library activities. The team would also ensure that the classes are being run as planned and work with the teachers to improve the quality of learning in the schools. Headmasters from 20 schools and Polestars would be present on this occasion to boost up the morale of the children participating in this creative learning programme.
