Producteering Breakfast series kicked-off!

Aspire launched its “Producteering Breakfast Series” revolving around building great software products, at the SDForum in San Jose, CA this month. The breakfast series drew an enthusiastic response from several ISVs in the Bay Area and elsewhere, who debated the very definition of a “great product”, how communication between product engineers and users was a critical element to creating successful products and how products need to be built iteratively with constant market feedback and implementation of that feedback. Overall, the idea of a Producteering forum exclusively for ISVs was well appreciated and we plan to have more breakfast series in different cities on a periodic basis.

Welcome to Aspire Systems’ monthly newsletter!

It’s a well-known fact now that markets have and are continuously expanding - making the world a flatter and more global place. In this scenario, it becomes imperative to have your software products global-ready.

As a Fortune 500 company (On average, international Fortune 500 companies earn $25 of additional revenue for every $1 spent on localization, and many software giants have more than half of their sales coming from non-English countries today) there is no choice but to be globally ready and the budget for globalization efforts are clearly defined. But as a fledging start-up or a mid-sized company, you probably have to make a choice between early investments in globalization when the pay-off for it is still uncertain, and using those resources to develop newer features in your product.

You may already have a globalization strategy in place or may be just now planning to make your software global-ready or perhaps re-engineer your technology so that it delivers value across geographical boundaries through a single code base. Whatever your goals are, Aspire Systems brings you some tips, best practices and success stories on Globalization this month

Real-life examples of On-demand product development success

Product Internationalization of a document management system

Aspire's product engineering team internationalized a legal Document Management System to support Hebrew and English at the GUI and content level. They had to overcome GUI design challenges for Hebrew (written from right-to-left) in terms of displaying content and navigation. Aspire also had to bring in Latin character support and map Hebrew to Latin and vice-versa as Hebrew was not supported by the product's existing three-tier architecture framework.

Localization of a business process improvement solution

A provider of business process improvement solutions wanted to re-engineer their product to include localization support for all their international clients. Aspire helped them localize their product for different languages, currencies, number and date formats. This in-turn reduced the customer’s professional services workload considerably.
