Budget Mr Gowri Shankar Subramanian, CEO Aspire Systems (Chennai) The budget is more of an attempt to maintain the status-quo level. Given the positive economic conditions, the finance minister could have done better this time. Populist moves announced in the budget were slight enhancement in income-tax exemption limit s and removing the surcharge for SMEs. However, corporate India does not have much to rejoice with ESOPs coming under the FBT net. There is no mention on the status of the 10A exemption beyond 2009 for the software industry.
