Gowri Shankar Subramanian, CEO Gowri Shankar Subramanian
CEO

Gowri is a co-founder of Aspire Systems and currently serves as its CEO.  In this position, he sets the strategic direction for Aspire and also oversees its day-to-day operations. Under his leadership, Aspire has grown at a CAGR of 63% over the past five years and has been ranked in Deloitte's list of fastest-growing companies in India and Asia-Pacific.

Gowri believes in the power of outsourcing to transform industries and fundamentally alter business dynamics.   Having watched up-close how sub-contract manufacturing transformed the electronics industry and how IBM, Cisco, HP, and others gradually outsourced all their manufacturing operations, Gowri firmly believes that software product building will go the same way and can be completely outsourced. This simple premise never fails to spark a substantial debate and it underlines everything that Aspire does.

Gowri has been named as an upcoming, young CEO by The Economic Times, India's premier business newspaper, and as a top 20 executive in Information Technology by The WEEK.  He is active in various industry associations and chairs NASSCOM's Regional Emerging Companies Forum in Chennai.  He is also a Charter Member of TiE and a member of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization.  Gowri is an active speaker and has presented in various industry events and conferences.  He has been quoted extensively by leading publications on his views on Outsourced Product Development and is considered a thought leader in this space.

Gowri has a Masters in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Pondicherry University. He is married, has a 7-year old son and is an amateur pilot still trying to get it right!

Shankar is one of the co-founders of Aspire Systems and currently serves as its CTO.  In this position, he is primarily responsible for the technology direction and product engineering excellence at Aspire.  Shankar has 13+ years of experience in building software products for various customers.  With the help of his Advanced Technology Group and other key players at Aspire, Shankar is focused on spearheading Producteering initiatives.

Earlier, Shankar played several vital roles ranging from hands-on product development and project management to delivery and engagement management stints at Aspire. He has nurtured and grown several key customer relationships, and most recently led Aspire’s complete delivery operations before taking up the CTO role.  Shankar’s varied exposure provides him an ideal platform from which to drive initiatives to make software development better and faster.

Prior to Aspire, Shankar gained extensive software development experience building CAD/CAM softwares (AutoCAD and CADDS) and customer interaction experience while working at Neil Automation and ComputerVision, Inc.  (Parametric Technology Corporation).  Shankar has a Master's in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Bharathiar University, India and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Pondicherry University, India.

As Vice President (Delivery) of Aspire Systems, Sunil is responsible for managing the entire delivery process from Aspire’s Global Innovation Center in Chennai. With 14 years of varied experience in IT and Turnkey projects, Sunil has expertise in Software Services and Products alike – including Business Development and Acquisition, Business Unit Management, Program Management, Engagement and Delivery Management.

Sunil has orchestrated software delivery management for large multi-site projects with over 300 resources and multiple technologies. He started his career with ETA Ascon as a Functional Analyst and later moved into Project Management. At HCL Technologies, a billion dollar IT services company, Sunil was responsible for multiple client engagements across different domains for Fortune 500 companies as Group Project Manager. He has also led 100 people teams, generated more than US $3 million revenue/year and established a “New Initiatives Group”, focused on identifying new domains and emerging technologies to work on, at HCL.

His most recent assignment was with iSOFT as the Head of an entire Product Line that handled software development and implementation projects across a geography. At iSOFT, Sunil was in charge of end-to-end delivery management (From Product/Solution design and development to interfacing, data migration/synchronization and Go-Live) for large and complex enterprise-class projects.

Sunil is an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore and he has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University, India.

Bhoovarahan Thirumalai, President - US OperationsPrathap V Achuthan
Vice President - US Operations

Prathap V Achuthan currently serves as the Vice President - US Operations at Aspire Systems and has been associated with the company since the formative years. He has held several key positions in Sales & Marketing at Aspire and was recently Vice President of Sales - US. He brings with him 14 years of rich experience in General Management, Strategy, International Sales & Marketing.

As an individual deeply committed to the growth of the company, Prathap has played a signficant role in establishing a formal sales organization and in promoting and selling Aspire's OPD services across geographies. He strongly believes in "Trust based selling" and through strong customer focus he has helped Aspire win number of long term relationships. In 2007, he set up a busines unit in California that saw a growth in the region by over 50%.
In the current position, he oversees the US operations and is responsible for the overall growth and expansion of Aspire Systems in the US.

Prathap graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining Engineering from Anna University. He also holds an MBA degree from Anna University. Prior to Aspire, he has held managerial position in one of India's largest organization, Coal India Limited. Mining (read Exploration!) is still his passion!

Jamie Duke
COO, SciQuest, Inc.

Jamie Duke serves as Chief Operating Officer, driving the planning and management of product design, launch and enhancements for all of SciQuest's technology solutions including procurement applications, materials management solutions and scientific research applications.

Jamie most recently served as Chief Information Officer of BuildNet, a solutions provider for the construction materials industry. His prior experiences include roles as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at GE Capital Mortgage, Group Vice President for technology and alternative channels for First Citizens Bank and as a Management Consultant with McKinsey & Co.

A graduate of Duke University, Jamie also has a Master's degree from MIT's Sloan School of Management.

Technologist and Entrepreneur

BC is a technologist and entrepreneur skilled at turning innovative software solutions into industry-leading companies. He founded Memento in 2002 after identifying the high-value business opportunity to help enterprises systematically address the long-known issue of internal fraud and inappropriate activities by insiders.

In 1995, BC founded FutureTense—the company that helped define the Content Management software category—and was part of the management team that led it to nearly $100 million in revenue. Following the acquisition of FutureTense by publicly traded Open Market, he served as Open Market's Chief Technology Officer, as well as a Board Member. From 1987 to 1995, BC was a Principal Software Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation.

BC holds an M.S. in Visual Studies from the MIT Media Lab, and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India. He speaks at leading industry events and conferences, and is an avid reader, runner, and squash player.
